The best option depends on your base
If you're staying in the Tri-City and Malbork is a single day trip, the PKP train from Gdańsk Główny station is fast and cheap (18–35 PLN, 30–45 minutes, direct). You don't need a car for the castle. However, if you're flying into GDN and going directly to Malbork for your first night, a pre-booked taxi from the airport is the only realistic door-to-door option — PKP from the airport would require an SKM transfer to Gdańsk Główny first.
Castle visit logistics
Allow at least 3 hours for the castle tour — the site is huge, with three separate castle sections. Audio guides in English, German, Polish, and several other languages are available at the entrance. The castle is open year-round; summer (May–September) includes impressive sound-and-light shows on Saturday evenings. Pre-book your castle ticket online to skip the queue in peak season.
Taxi day-trip tip
We offer a same-day round-trip option for Malbork — the driver waits while you tour the castle, then drives you back to your accommodation. Total duration: 5–6 hours including a full castle visit. This is popular with families and travellers on short city breaks who don't want to lose half a day to train connections.
