Getting there from the airport is quick - just 12 km and about 20 minutes by car. Here is how to do it.
How far is Gdańsk Airport from the Old Town?
Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN) is located approximately 12 kilometers west of the Old Town. The drive takes about 20 minutes via the main road (ul. Słowackiego → al. Grunwaldzka → Podwale Grodzkie). During rush hour (7:00–9:00 and 15:00–18:00 on weekdays), the journey can take 30–35 minutes due to traffic on al. Grunwaldzka, the city's main artery.
Option 1: Pre-booked taxi - 20 minutes, 130 PLN
A pre-booked airport taxi is the fastest and most convenient option. The driver waits outside the terminal at a meeting point agreed by phone or WhatsApp (name sign in the arrivals hall: +20 PLN), takes your luggage, and drives you directly to your hotel or apartment in the Old Town. The fixed price is 130 PLN, 24/7 - the same by day and at night (22:00–06:00), on Sundays and on public holidays.
This option is especially valuable if you are arriving with luggage, traveling with children, or arriving late at night when public transport options are limited. For 2–4 travelers, the per-person cost (around 32.50 PLN each for 4) is comparable to taking a train plus a last-mile taxi from the station.

Option 2: SKM train with a change (35–45 minutes) + walk, 8.50 PLN
Take the SKM train from the airport station (Port Lotniczy, directly in front of the terminal, a few minutes via a covered footbridge) to Gdańsk Wrzeszcz (about 21–23 minutes) and change there (platform 3) for Gdańsk Główny (main station). With the change, the ride takes roughly 35–45 minutes and costs 8.50 PLN. From Gdańsk Główny, it is a 10–15 minute walk to the Old Town along ul. Wały Jagiellońskie.
This is a cheap option, but it involves a few minutes' walk to the train station over a covered footbridge, waiting for the next train (one or two trains an hour), and then a 10–15 minute walk from the main station to your hotel - all with your luggage. The train part alone takes roughly 35–45 minutes.
Option 3: Bus 210 - 40–50 minutes, 4.80 PLN
Bus 210 runs from the airport to Gdańsk Główny (main station). The bus stop is right in front of the terminal. The ride takes about 35–40 minutes, and a ticket costs 4.80 PLN (buy from the driver with exact change or use the Jakdojade app). From the main station, walk 10–15 minutes to the Old Town.
