Gdańsk Airport to Old Town: Fastest Route & Best Transport Options (2026)
Published on April 10, 2026 · Taxi Airport Gdańsk
Gdańsk's Old Town (Stare Miasto) is the most popular destination for tourists arriving at the airport. Home to the stunning Long Market (Długi Targ), Neptune Fountain, St. Mary's Church, and the iconic Crane Gate, the Old Town is where most hotels, restaurants, and attractions are concentrated. Getting there from the airport is quick — just 12 km and about 20 minutes by car. Here is how to do it.
How far is Gdańsk Airport from the Old Town?
Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN) is located approximately 12 kilometers west of the Old Town. The drive takes about 20 minutes via the main road (ul. Słowackiego → al. Grunwaldzka → Podwale Grodzkie). During rush hour (7:00–9:00 and 15:00–18:00 on weekdays), the journey can take 30–35 minutes due to traffic on al. Grunwaldzka, the city's main artery.
Option 1: Pre-booked taxi — 20 minutes, 100 PLN
A pre-booked airport taxi is the fastest and most convenient option. The driver meets you at the arrivals hall with a name sign, takes your luggage, and drives you directly to your hotel or apartment in the Old Town. The fixed price is 100 PLN during the day and 120 PLN at night (22:00–06:00, Sundays, and holidays).
This option is especially valuable if you are arriving with luggage, traveling with children, or arriving late at night when public transport options are limited. For 2–4 travelers, the per-person cost (25–50 PLN each) is comparable to taking a train plus a last-mile taxi from the station.
- Door-to-door service — directly to your accommodation
- Flight tracking — driver adjusts if your plane is late
- Pay after the ride by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Revolut, or cash
- No prepayment required

Option 2: SKM train + walk — 35–45 minutes, ~5 PLN
Take the SKM train from the airport station (Port Lotniczy, 10-minute walk from the terminal) to Gdańsk Główny (main station). The train ride takes about 25 minutes and costs approximately 4.80 PLN. From Gdańsk Główny, it is a 10–15 minute walk to the Old Town along ul. Wały Jagiellońskie.
This is the cheapest option, but it involves a 10-minute walk to the train station, waiting for the next train (every 15–30 minutes), and then another 10–15 minute walk from the main station to your hotel — all with your luggage. The total journey takes 35–45 minutes.
Option 3: Bus 210 — 40–50 minutes, 4.80 PLN
Bus 210 runs from the airport to Gdańsk Główny (main station). The bus stop is right in front of the terminal. The ride takes about 35–40 minutes, and a ticket costs 4.80 PLN (buy from the driver with exact change or use the Jakdojade app). From the main station, walk 10–15 minutes to the Old Town.

Where exactly does the taxi drop you off?
Our drivers know the Old Town inside out. Most hotels and apartments in the Old Town are located on or near these streets: ul. Długa (Long Street), Długi Targ (Long Market), ul. Mariacka (Amber Street), ul. Piwna, and ul. Ogarna. The driver will take you as close to your accommodation as possible — some streets are pedestrian-only, so the drop-off point may be at the nearest car-accessible entrance, typically within 50 meters of your door.
Tips for your first visit to Gdańsk Old Town
- Most hotels are walkable from the Long Market area. Once in the Old Town, everything is within a 10-minute walk.
- Restaurant street: ul. Mariacka (Amber Street) is famous for amber shops and outdoor dining. Visit in the evening for the best atmosphere.
- Free walking tours depart daily from the Neptune Fountain at Long Market. A great way to explore on your first day.
- Exchange money at a Kantor in the Old Town for better rates than at the airport. Kantors on ul. Długa and ul. Podwale Staromiejskie offer competitive rates.
- Book your return taxi to the airport a day before departure. Especially for morning flights, you do not want to rely on finding a taxi. Check return taxi prices →
