1. Pre-booked taxi (recommended)

A fixed-price taxi is the fastest and most reliable way from GDN to Sopot. The driver waits at the arrivals hall with your name on a sign, tracks your flight for delays automatically, and drives you directly to your hotel or apartment. No navigation, no currency conversion, no searching for the next bus. At 120 PLN (~28 EUR) for up to 4 passengers, the per-person cost for a family is often cheaper than individual train tickets.

2. SKM commuter train

The SKM (Szybka Kolej Miejska) is Poland's cheapest option at 4.50 PLN per ticket. However, the airport terminal has no train station — you need to take a ~10-minute walking transfer (or a short taxi) to the Gdańsk Port Lotniczy SKM station. From there, a train to Sopot runs every 15–30 minutes and takes 20–25 minutes. Total journey door-to-door including wait + walking: 45–60 minutes. Not practical with luggage, after 23:00, or if it's raining.

3. Uber and Bolt

Both operate in Gdańsk and can pick up at the airport, but drivers cannot enter the arrivals hall — you need to walk to the outdoor pickup area. Wait times range 5 to 25 minutes depending on demand. Prices are dynamic: 70–90 PLN in low-demand hours, 150–180 PLN during peak or surge events. After midnight or during storms, availability drops sharply and we've seen wait times over 40 minutes reported on forums.

4. Car rental

Useful only if you plan to explore outside the Tri-City for multiple days. Rental cars in Poland start around 140 PLN/day, plus fuel, parking in Sopot (5–8 PLN/hour in central zones), and insurance. For a 2-night stay in Sopot, a return taxi transfer (240 PLN) is usually cheaper than renting.

Tips for your Sopot arrival

  • If staying in Monte Cassino or near the Grand Hotel, ask the driver to drop you off at the hotel door — Monte Cassino itself is pedestrianised from 08:00 to 23:00
  • Hotel parking in central Sopot costs 40–80 PLN per night — budget accordingly if driving
  • In peak summer (July–August weekends) traffic into Sopot can add 15 minutes — book morning or evening transfers
