The train or the plane usually wins on both time and price. The Pendolino (EIP) covers the route in about 5 hours 25 minutes with tickets from 76 PLN — pricing is dynamic, so booking early is cheaper and last-minute is not. The plane can be the fastest of all: Ryanair flies Gdańsk–Kraków about six times a week, LOT a few times a week, with fares from roughly 76–113 PLN. If you live near the airport and travel with a backpack, a well-timed departure gets you to Kraków faster than anything on the ground. Just count the rest honestly: check-in and security, then the ride from Balice into the city after landing. The "1:15" flight becomes several hours door to door — still the shortest, but the lead shrinks.
When the Gdansk to Krakow transfer wins
The arithmetic flips once more of you travel, or you carry more than a backpack.
